I have had the great pleasure of joining both the Gearhart Elementary and Seaside Heights Elementary schools starting in the fall of 2018 as the Assistant Principal. I couldn't be more excited for this work and look forward to serving our students, staff and community to continue to support a safe, engaging and rigorous school experience for our kids. This new positions follows three years of service as the Seaside School District Director of Special Education where I supported staff in development and implementation of our special programs. My career began as a Special Education Teacher where I served students in grades K through 12 in the Tillamook and Neah-Kah-Nie School Districts. My twelve years as a Special Education Teacher informed my core belief that all students can experience a high degree of social, emotional, and educational success with the full support of a caring and committed staff.

Prior to moving to the North Coast I grew up in Portland and attended school in the Portland Public School District, graduating from Madison High School in 1995. I received my undergraduate degree from University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Science in 2000. This academic area informed my leadership and teaching approach specifically as it related to the foundation of academic progress through thoughtful inquiry and reflection. I then went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Pacific University in 2004. Finally, I earned my Administrative license from Portland State University in the Spring of 2015.

I view a collaborative school environment as the key to developing successful teachers and students. I also believe that partnerships with parents and community members are essential to enriching the experience for the students in our care.

I couldn't do my work without the support of my wonderful wife Beth and my two children Jonah and Neah. We are very proud to have called the North Oregon Coast our home for the past 15 years and we take full advantage of what our home has to offer. You can often find us surfing, hiking and enjoying our amazing coastal environment.
